The Talent Centre Celebrates 20th Anniversary and the Start of a New Company in Singapore.

The Talent Centre came into being in 1986 in order to provide greater access to education and training. Although flexible learning is now widely available at the time it was a pioneering venture. The Dorset Echo described it as a brave move by its founder Jonathan Robbins. Twenty years on the business has changed and developed but the vision of realising the hidden talents of people remains the driving force. The company now works with universities, organisations and individuals on programmes as diverse as hospitality and catering, employability, Indian dance and Chinese classical music.

The Talent Centre has developed innovative new software for e-assessment and quality assurance of professional judgements as part of its work to provide organisations with new ways to recognise achievement and maintain standards in qualifications and training. The quality of the IT services provided by the Talent Centre has led to it becoming a Microsoft Certified Partner.

In May this year the company went into business with partners in Singapore. The new company, Talent Centre International will provide consultancy, research and development services in the ASEAN region.

Clients, past employees and friends were welcomed to the Ghurkha restaurant in Weymouth for an event which celebrated 20 years in business and the launch of the new venture in Singapore.

Local MP and Minister for schools Jim Knight sent a message of congratulations saying:

“The Talent Centre is a first-rate local business. Jon Robbins and the team play an important role in helping individuals and businesses fulfil their potential.”

“It’s a dynamic and innovative organisation based in a listed building in one of the most stunning parts of the country. Cutting-edge ideas combine with South Dorset’s excellent quality of life. The Talent Centre is a great success story and an example for future business investors.”

“I would like to formally congratulate the company on their twentieth anniversary.”
